Result of the Exam Computer Networks in WS1718

205 students of the FRA-UAS and 8 students of the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) had enrolled for the exam on February 24th 2018. 65 students of the FRA-UAS and 8 students of the VGU attended the exam. The following table presents the distribution of the grades.

2,7 56,0 - 59,0 5 -

3,3 48,0 - 51,0 1 -
3,7 44,0 - 47,5 9 -
4,0 40,0 - 43,0 6 -
5,0 <40 10 -
----------------------------------------------------------
                    Participants: 65 8
             Grade Point Average: 2,96 1,61

All questions of the exam, which did not cover topics of the lab, were taken from the exercise sheets (partly in a slightly modified form, often even 1:1). 24 of the 90 maximum achievable points covered topics from the lab.

The big difference between the average grades of the students of the FRA-UAS and the students of the VGU is noteworthy. Of course, 8 of the VGU is not a representative number, but the results are quite similar with the exam results in WS1617 and SS2017.

In retrospect, subtask 12a was not perfect for four reasons.

For these reasons, an 80 points scheme was used for the grading and not the original 90 points scheme. Thus, missing points in subtask 12a have no negative effect for any participant and points scored in this subtask are not lost.
